Goodreads Synopsis:

Olive is always unlucky: in her career, in love, in…well, everything. Her identical twin sister Amy, on the other hand, is probably the luckiest person in the world. Her meet-cute with her fiancé is something out of a romantic comedy (gag) and she’s managed to finance her entire wedding by winning a series of Internet contests (double gag). Worst of all, she’s forcing Olive to spend the day with her sworn enemy, Ethan, who just happens to be the best man.

Olive braces herself to get through 24 hours of wedding hell before she can return to her comfortable, unlucky life. But when the entire wedding party gets food poisoning from eating bad shellfish, the only people who aren’t affected are Olive and Ethan. And now there’s an all-expenses-paid honeymoon in Hawaii up for grabs.

Putting their mutual hatred aside for the sake of a free vacation, Olive and Ethan head for paradise, determined to avoid each other at all costs. But when Olive runs into her future boss, the little white lie she tells him is suddenly at risk to become a whole lot bigger. She and Ethan now have to pretend to be loving newlyweds, and her luck seems worse than ever. But the weird thing is that she doesn’t mind playing pretend. In fact, she feels kind of… lucky.

My Thoughts:

The Unhoneymooners was the third book that I’ve read by Christina Lauren and wow, this duo is just amazing. I loved it so much, that I ended up immediately reading two of their other books back to back! Let’s just say that I have some serious Christina Lauren love going on and will read ANYTHING they write. I think they are the only duo that makes me laugh so much that I almost cry, which is seriously a good thing because laughter is good for the soul, right?

Although it’s so hard to pick a fave because all their books are just so fantabulous,  this has to be right up there as one of my favorite Lauren books since I absolutely loved the real chemistry between Ethan and Olive, and I especially adored Olive as an MC.

Olive is an intelligent and sometimes cynical heroine, and I embraced her make no apologies attitude about being a curvy girl since I’m also a curvy girl too and proud of it. I think it’s refreshing to have a female character who isn’t a size 0 or size 2, who is proud of her curvy body, flaunts its voluptuousness, and won’t let anyone fat shame her—go, Olive!

Olive has always had the worst luck in the world but that all changes when she is one of the only people besides Ethan not to get severe food poisoning at the wedding reception of her twin sister Ami and Ethan’s brother Dane. The bride and groom’s bad luck means that Olive and Ethan get a free, luxury vacation in Hawaii but they also have to pretend to be newlyweds which is easier than they first thought it would be since they each thought the other hated each other!

The two of them made me crack up. Their initial contact is often snarky and filled with arguments but as they get to know each other over couples massages and fruity drinks, their conversation becomes deeper. The story becomes a charming, witty rom-com although it’s ultimately a deeper story than that, which is why I loved it as much as I did.

The Unhoneymooners pulls your emotions in every direction.  I laughed and cried while reading this book…my heart! It’s wonderfully witty, smart, sexy, and so much fun to read. Please put this on your TBR and read it as soon as you can because you will not regret it. Highly recommended if you love rom-coms, fun reads, or are looking for something fun, quick, and different—and if you haven’t read Christina Lauren yet, then what are you waiting for?

**Thank you, NetGalley and Gallery Books for the ARC. All opinions are my own.**

    1. You really should if you like a funny, feel-good rom-com! I don’t often read romance, but they have sold me on theirs. They do such a great job with it and really do put you through a range of emotions. This one and Love and Other Words are my 2 faves. 😉 ❤
