Hi all! I hope that everyone is having a fantastic and a wonderful reading week! Well, sadly, my joy of reading a book a day like I did the first week of May didn’t continue into last week. But that was mainly because my daughter had a nasty stomach virus for four days and then I caught it…reading was the last thing on my mind! And I spent a lot of time my watching things on Netflix and my DVR which I normally never do but for some reason, I feel like curling up and watching TV shows and movies instead of reading. Hopefully, it is just a phase, and I will find a book to pull me out of this mood driven, small, yet totally unexpected reading slump.
WWW Wednesdays is a weekly meme hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. Here’s how it works: all you need to do is answer the following three questions and link back to her, or you can put your answers in the comments on her blog!
The three WWW questions are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently, I’m reading:
I’m still reading Tin Man by Sarah Winman even though it’s only about 200 pages long. It’s not that I don’t like it, but I just really haven’t gotten into it and can’t seem to get past the 30% point. It’s beautiful, tender, and poignant, but the way it is written in an imitative stream of consciousness style is one I’m not in the mood for at the moment. I’m just going to have to let the beauty of the underlying storytelling seduce me or set it aside until I’m in more in the mood for it…
I’ve heard fantastic things about Beartown by Fredrik Backman, but I’ve only gotten to Chapter 6 (10% into it). It’s an audiobook, and I have a love and hate relationship with audiobooks. I don’t always have time to listen to them and if the narrator is awful then I ditch the book. But the narrator is good(ish)…I just need to find the time to listen and get into the story (or buy the actual book!).
I didn’t plan on reading The Royal We by Heather Cocks and Jessica Morgan this week, but I’m a bit Royal obsessed, sooo I just had to read it this week before Prince Harry and Meghan get married on Saturday even though it’s not about them! Still, since I plan to be one of those people who will be waking up in the middle of the night to watch the Royal Wedding (I’ve never missed a Royal Wedding since I watched Diana marry Charles when I was only 4 1/2 years old!!), this book just fit my mood perfectly! It’s fun, light, and just fantastic so far!
Since last week I finished reading:
Every Single Secret by Emily Carpenter was one of my most anticipated reads this summer since I loved The Weight of Lies last year! It was absolutely phenomenal 5 Stars! I knew I would love the book, and I was just glad to be right. Emily Carpenter is now an auto-buy author for me and has cemented her place as one of my favorite authors.
The Boleyn King (The Boleyn Trilogy #1) by Laura Andersen is a reimagined history of the Tudors…what would have happened if Anne Boleyn had given birth to a son? This is a book I didn’t plan to read this week, but I was in the mood for some Tudor drama, and I guess really in a British royal reading mood, ha! A fab book…can’t wait to read book two in the series! 4 Stars!
Next, I plan on reading:
Bring Me Back was a book I planned on reading last week, but the stomach flu and my mood had other plans. I definitely plan on getting to it next week as long as there are no other strange mishaps. I love B.A. Paris, so I’m really looking forward to it and am not sure why I haven’t read it yet since I’ve had it since February!
I really hope that The Favorite Sister by Jessica Knoll is good although I’ve heard mixed reviews! The Luckiest Girl Alive was one of my favorite books in 2015, so I’m hoping Knolls doesn’t disappoint since it was a book I pre-ordered!
After reading Bernadette, I’ve just been in the mood for lighthearted, fun books and have been reading lots of family dramas since the beginning of the year. Crazy Rich Asians (Crazy Rich Asians #1) by Kevin Kwan has everything I’ve been in the mood for, so I can’t wait to see if it is as entertaining as it sounds, especially with the movie coming out soon!
Of course, I might decide to read totally different books or watch Netflix all next week and get none of these read, lol! So, this is really just a tentative plan 😉 They could all reappear next week, or I could still be reading my current reads! That’s never happened before, but I’m in such a weird reading mood! I guess that happens to us all now and again!
Well, that’s what my reading currently looks like! How about yours? What good books are you reading this week or have you recently finished? What wonderful books do you plan on reading next? I’d love to hear what you’re reading so I can have more ideas for my ever-growing TBR pile! 🙂
