Jay’s Questions for the Nominees:

  1. Which of the 7 deadly sins could you absolutely live with if you had to? Definitely, greed since I could drop a good $100 no problem on books a day. Or $45 on a single lipstick. I like to spend money, and I’ll admit it.
  2. Which of the 7 dwarfs are you most similar to? Definitely, sleepy because I have insomnia at night so during the day I’m often dozing.
  3. What state haven’t you lived in but would like to? I would like to live in South Carolina because I have vacationed there almost every summer t)for 3 decades and have just fallen in love with parts of the state over the years. I would love to live in Charleston because it is a gorgeous city and is so rich in history, which I love, and it is only about a 1 hour 30 min drive to Pawleys Island, SC where my family’s beach house is located. Win, win!
  4. Where do you see yourself in ten years that you believe you might actually achieve? In ten years I see myself finally having my doctorate degree since I should have that next year (yay!) and although I am already tenured and a senior professor where I currently teach, I see myself as being Administrative Head of the English Department in the next 2 years since that is my current goal, and I am on track for that promotion. We plan to move to Charleston, SC once my daughter starts 6th grade, which will be in 5 years, so I’m already planning that move in my head and logistically. I also plan on starting that book I’ve been dabbling at for the past two decades but have been too afraid to write; there comes a time when you just have to put fear aside and do it. Even if I am just writing it for myself and no one in the world ever reads it…that will be freeing in itself!
  5. Where do you see yourself in ten years that you hope happens but don’t think it will? I see myself retired, lol! But since I will have just turned 50 in 10 years, I don’t think that is feasible. Maybe in 15 if we don’t move to Charleston until my daughter graduates high school and I wait and retire from my position at the college. Something to consider since I don’t plan on working into my 60’s since I have a very set plan to retire, spend time with my kids, and travel the world!
  6. Who do you not know in person but think you’d best friends with? I think that I would be great friends with Jo-Ann from Inspiration Pie; I already feel like I know her! We have so much in common and great conversations! I would love to meet her in person because I know it would be great fun, and we would just laugh and crack up when we met! We would probably get in trouble, but we would have an excellent time! Oh, and Tina from Reading Between the Pages, and I would be great friends I think!! She and I also have much common! I think we would have fun together as well and have so much to talk about!! Ah, and Danielle from Books, Vertigo, and Tea, and I would have so much fun if we got together in person reading, having tea, and talking about all kinds of things!  Wow, I could go on, but there isn’t time!!
  7. What Greek or Roman goddess or god is your favorite? Athena of course! The Greek goddess of wisdom, literature, and the arts 🙂
  8. When in time would you want to live that you have not been alive for? Oh, I would have loved to live during Tudor England and have been a lady-in-waiting to all of the queens of Henry VIII or Elizabeth I since that is one of my favorite times in history. But, I think that if I were, I would hope that I would look totally opposite to whatever Henry VIII found attractive because even in an alternative reality, there is no way that I would want him showing any interest in me! I like my head where it is…
  9. If you could only travel by 1 mode of transportation in the future, what would it be? I would still want to travel by car since it’s been a great way to travel so far; now if they fly that would be fine too. Though Floo Powder wouldn’t be too bad either.
  10. What website do you visit the most? Besides my own…it would probably have to be Goodreads or Amazon!
  11. How many cookies are too many cookies in one single sitting? If they are peanut butter cookies, then there can’t be too many of them in one sitting! Hmm, if they are chocolate chip, I am good with 4.

Jo-Ann’s Questions for the Nominees:

  1. What is your ideal vacation? As much as I love the beach vacation with my family, my ideal vacation right now would be just my husband and me going away together. I’d love for us to travel to the Provence region in France and rent a villa for a few weeks. There are so many places to visit like Avignon with its gorgeous art and architecture, the Roman ruins in Saint Remy, the gorgeous white beaches at Cassis, and lastly, see and smell gorgeous lavender fields in bloom!
  2. What do you love about yourself? I love that I love what I do and can happily say that I have a passion for my job and for learning even more about what I teach. Teaching English Lit is a passion of mine just like taking the classes for my doctorate degree is a passion. I love teaching my students the nuances of Shakespeare or how to study Poe through the psychological lens and seeing that student who signed up for the class just to get credit hours look up at me and go “ah hah” when they first hear John Donne’s sonnets or understand Walt Whitman. Or, when I am teaching Contemporary Lit, and we talk about Harry Potter…you know that gets them discussing and writing! It gives me joy to see their passion and to know that I inspired and helped create beauty in their words!
  3. What do wish you could change about yourself? I would love to change the fact I worry about everything all the time, non-stop. It’s something that I have done since I was a little girl, and it can be incapacitating at times. It’s honestly and admittedly an anxiety disorder, and I’ve seen therapists galore but of course, it doesn’t just go away.  I have found ways to work through my worry and anxiety and strategies to make the worry easier, but it is always there even though some days are better than others. I hate that I have passed it to my daughter and both sons, and that is probably what I would change the most.
  4. What book are you reading now? I have read 72% of See What I Have Done but have more than 60% left to read in Swimming Lessons
  5. What keeps you blogging? Well, I’ve only been blogging for 44 days, but I think what keeps me blogging is the people that I have met, I was so nervous when I started my blog, but I then started visiting other blogs and commenting, etc and everyone was so nice! Then I actually started getting followers! I don’t know what I expected with that, but people started liking my posts and commenting, and I felt like I was part of a community of people who liked the same things I did, and it made me feel a part of something special.
  6. You are having a relaxing evening.  What are you doing? I’m either reading and drinking a cup of hot tea, taking a bubble bath in total solitude, or curled up with my dog Branna’s head in my lap like it always is, my daughter on one side, the rest of the family around, and watching a movie.
  7. Do you have pets?  Yes, I have 2 dogs, Branna and Onyx, and a cat, Chloe, and they are all three my kids although Branna is my most special girl (don’t tell the other two or they might get jealous!).
  8. Favourite pizza toppings? Yummy! Onion, mushroom, tomato, and cheese. Add sausage if I am in the mood.
  9. Coffee, tea or wine or other? All three! But, not at the same time, hahaha!
  10. What is your favourite season? Fall! It’s the best temperature in NC since it is in the low to mid 60s most of the time, and I just adore the whole atmosphere of fall! Pumpkins, apples, the smell of baking, spiced candles, pumpkin flavored coffee (yummy!), and then decorating for Halloween!!!
  11. What is your favourite book genre? Oh, most definitely psychological thrillers, suspense, and mysteries! And I love historical fiction, especially based on English and French monarchs. I also enjoy some contemporary Adult and Women’s Fiction, but they really have to be by authors that I really enjoy or the subject matter has to catch my attention. And I can’t leave off classic British literature…I could read classic British lit anytime, oh, wait! I do that pretty much every day when I am teaching! But, seriously, I adore Christopher Marlowe, John Donne, Jane Austin, Milton, William Blake, Chaucer, Shakespeare…okay, I will stop now 🙂

  1. Congratulations, Stephanie for the nomination! Reading your answers has been so much fun!
And thank you for the nomination! As a matter of fact, I’ve just posted my own but I love to answer your questions, too (I’m crappy at coming up with a new set of questions, but love answering them), so… I’ll let it sit for a while and definitely do it later if that’s okay with you 🙂

    1. LOL! I’m sorry Norin! I didn’t mean to nominate you again, but you so deserve the award! I just feel bad nominating people who have already done it! You don’t have to do it again unless you really want to!! 🙂 I know it can be time-consuming! But, definitely, do it if you want!! And of course, take all the time you need!! And thank you so much!!! I’m glad you always have fun with my answers 🙂

      2. Neither would I! I’m glad I got this idea to blog one day and followed through! Oh, I haven’t always had a specific page for my future!! It comes with age. You’ll get there 😊

  2. Congratulations! I wish I had you as a professor in college. I was primarily a biology/environmental science student but I would always choose to take fun English courses as my side classes. I absolutely love Chaucer! Great answers! 😊

    1. You’re welcome! Hilton Head is great! My aunt and uncle always vacationed there when I was growing up. I love Savannah! Gorgeous! It’s probably my 2nd favorite city and if I didn’t want to live in Charleston, I would love to live there one day!

  3. OMG I LOVE these answers, Stephanie! I think youre 100% right, we’d be great friends in person! Haha! We might get in a bit of trouble, but we’d have fun!

It’s so funny about blogging, you meet so many great people and sometimes you really click and have great conversations.

I was like you when I first started…I felt nervous and awkward! It’s great fun though 🙂

I feel like I’ve been stuck in neutral a bit! The weather is finally summerish and warm here and hubby just got the pool open yesterday. The water is only 72oF but its fine once you’re ducked. Between company and visiting this weekend I’m finally getting caught up with my favourite blogs and the Sunday posts!

How have you been feeling? I’ve been thinking about you, I hope you are on the mend!

    1. I knew I was right about us being friends in person!! A little trouble is okay as long as no one is hurt and you have fun!

Exactly! It’s funny how you can meet someone from, well, anywhere in the world, and just click! Lovely technology 😊

Blogging is great fun, and I’m glad I decided to just go for it!

I wish we had a longer spring and summer came a little later! I think I would like that although I don’t think I could handle your winter temps! 🤤 We’ve had the pool open since midApril since spring is like 2 to 3 weeks!! Now the water temp is in the 80s…I don’t mind it cooler though. Once we hit triple digit days, it can be unbearable. Glad your getting caught up on your blogs! I’ve been resting and reading like I’m supposed to be doing! I hope you enjoyed your company😊

      1. It was really winter here until mid-April! I would love an early spring. I don’t think I could do triple digit days…as much as I detest the cold winter. Ugh..it’s a toss up! LOL

Okay, my eyes are falling out of my head. Got to sleep ZZZZzzzzz. Talk to you tomorrow!

I’m glad you are resting. How are you feeling? Better, I hope!

      2. There has to be perfect weather somewhere…! No, we have 60 and 70 degree days in Dec sometimes, lol! I can do the cold better than the heat! At least you can wear layers…there is only so much clothing you can remove! 🙄😂

Go to sleep too! Lol! I will soon…my daughter is “not tired” but whatever. She’s reading to the cat. I’m reading. Everyone else if asleep, so we’re cuddling together. We’ll both pass out soon, lol. I am feeling better though since I’m not coughing a lung up like I was. Great thing, steroids! And antibiotics too. Still physically exhausted though…like I’ve been run over a few times. Resting this week will help a lot! Have a good night! Talk to you tomorrow! 😊

      3. Glad you are feeling better! Yes, steroids are amazing. My husband had to go on them a few years back for breathing issues.

Enjoy cuddling with your little girl. I loved seeing the pictures of her in the water.

I’m trying to figure out why my blog is down. Seems to be something on the server side, so hoping that my hosting company responds soon!

        Liked by 1 person

      4. Me too! Steroids seem to fix almost everything! I’ve taken them for severe allergic reactions, sinus infections, and when I hurt my back. They are a wonder drug, but they make me feel jittery and weird. I love how medications make one thing better but give you crazy side effects.

We enjoyed cuddling, and she sang to me a song she wrote 😍😍 I wish I could have recorded that moment, so I can rewatch it again. Thanks….I think she would have stayed in the water 24/7 if allowed. She might be part mermaid.
Oh no! I hope your blog is back up soon!! That’s not good…😯

        Liked by 1 person

      5. Awww…she wrote a song! How sweet!

I’m glad the steroids a helping, but yeah. Side effects. Yuck. At least you only have to be on it short term. My husband said he had a ton of energy when he was on prednisone.

Blog was back up in no time…it was on the server side and I didn’t have to do anything 🙂

        Liked by 1 person

      6. She’s super sweet 😍😍

Today’s my last day on the steroids, so yay!! Side effects are yucky. This antibiotic is killing my stomach, lol. It’s always something! Oh, yeah, the steroids are like drinking a pot of coffee, which is not helpful when you want to sleep!

Yay! Glad your blog is up and it an easy fix 😊

        Liked by 1 person

      7. Saturday is my last day on them, yay! And yes, taking double the probiotics! Just the steroids were rough on my stomach plus the antibiotics. More causing severe nausea than anything…I gave my gastroenterologist a call about it earlier. He said since my stomach is a wreck anyway from previous ulcers, etc the steroids are just so harsh. He called me in something for nausea, which I don’t know why, lol. I have nausea medicine for my migrianes. But it’s fine. He called in something different. I almost hate that my stomach hurts like this days before my surgery, but it can’t be helped. I hope the meds don’t inflame it to where it messes anything up..ugh!

        Liked by 1 person

      8. Ugh! You’ll be so glad to have this all behind you, Stephanie. Just a couple more days. Keep saying that 🙂

I hope they don’t do more harm than good to your stomach, too, but I’m sure it will be okay. I didn’t realize steroids were hard on your stomach. I hope being off them helps.

Take care and keep resting. You’ll be so sick of hearing that! lol

        Liked by 1 person

      9. I sure will!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed but of course getting more nervous the closer we get to Fri. The past 2 procedures I’ve had h.pylori….I’m not sure if you’re familiar with that. It’s a bacterial infection that leads to ulcers. And you have to take 2 weeks of 2 different antibiotics plus 2 other prescriptions to treat it 😕 Since I’m just an autoimmune nightmare, I have autoimmune gastritis…so chronic inflammation..they can’t tell if the precancerous cells caused this or vice versa, but I have low to no stomach acid. So, I’m prone to stomach infections, ulcers, etc. I can’t take Aleve, Ibuprofen, etc because my stomach can’t handle it. But I’m just hoping he finds nothing because it not, he’s going to start letting me do these every 2 yrs not every yr!! Yay! I’ve had 10 in a row that where clean, so he thinks we can stop the yrly if this one is good 🤞
Yeah, steroids are like an ibuprofen on your stomach. They can cause ulcers too so I’m glad to be off them!

Lol, no, I don’t mind hearing it!! It means people care that I’m getting better!!😊❤

        Liked by 1 person

      10. I’m very familiar with hpylori. Not personally but as part of my job. I worked in Microbiology (I’m on leave right now) We would send specimens out on a regular basis for testing. We didn’t work on H.pylori at our facility.
I can imagine having H.pylori combined with your autoimmune issues would be a nightmare. God love ya! You must have to be super careful about everything you eat!
I was having stomach problems a few years ago, turns out it was my gallbladder but it didn’t show up in any testing at that time. I went on the paleo diet and it did really help. there is also paleo autoimmune diet, though I’m not convinced that it reverses autoimmune disease as they say it does.

      11. Oh!! Someone who knows what it is, lol! Most people just stare at me like I have 3 heads!!

No, I should be more careful about what I eat though. I have noticed lately I can’t touch raw onions or I have horrible chest pain. Odd. They removed my gallbladder since I was having pain and did have some stones, but I still have the pain lol. I think it maybe could have stayed. There is a paleo diet for autoimmune thyroid I’ve thought about trying. It’s getting everyone else on board with eating it…

        Liked by 1 person

      12. Is that from the Paleo mom? If so, I did that! Aaannnd I had to do it on my own. Yep, separate meals for me and the rest of the family. I just made sure I had meals for me, and there was always leftovers, so that helped. My husband, for the most part, took care of the rest. It was hard, but it became normal.

It helped my stomach pain issues but as far as psoriasis, which is autoimmune, that remained pretty much the same. I did versions of the paleo diet for a year. I also did GAPS diet, for 6 months which adds a probiotic aspect and allows dairy.

      13. I’m not sure who it’s from honestly. I saw it on Pinterest but never delved deeply enough to look into it. I could give it a try and see. I went gluten free for a while since my neurologist said it would help my migraines and my endocrinologist said it would help my thyroid and my gastroenterologist said it would help my stomach. It was okay for awhile but I couldn’t live without donuts, hahaha!

        Like

      14. Donuts! Hahah! You’re too funny. I totally get it, though. It’s a tough diet, especially if you are going out anywhere. You feel antisocial!
I’ve been seriously thinking about going back on it, not because I’m having digestive problems but because of all the darn weight I’ve been packing on! I could have cried trying on my summer clothes. Nothing fits. And I refuse to buy new clothes. Except maybe a mumu.
